Subject: Rising Concerns Over the Use of Plastic Bags
Sir,
I request you to kindly grant me space in your esteemed newspaper to highlight a growing issue that affects both our environment and daily life— the harmful use of plastic bags.
Over the past few years, plastic bags have become an integral part of our daily shopping. Whether it’s groceries, clothes, or other products, everything is packed in plastic. Unfortunately, unlike paper or jute, plastic bags do not decompose and have become a major source of pollution. Not only do these bags block drainage systems, but they also pose a severe threat to wildlife. When burnt, they release harmful toxins into the air, further contributing to pollution.
Despite efforts to ban plastic bags, they continue to be widely used. Many individuals are unaware of the grave environmental damage they cause. These bags are also hazardous to agriculture, as they can prevent soil fertility and damage crops by forming layers that block moisture and air.
I urge the concerned authorities to take stronger steps in banning plastic bags completely and promoting eco-friendly alternatives. If we continue ignoring this issue, the consequences will be disastrous, affecting not only the environment but future generations as well.
I hope my appeal will prompt action from both citizens and the government to tackle this serious problem.
Yours sincerely,
Satyam Chowdhury
